Pissed at a co-worker. Didn’t save a rig accordingly and i got to correct that error.
And the joy of disassembly duty also was mine to have; the production took it’s sweet time to complete it.
When i arrived home in the early hours of the following day a letter with the tax return confirmation waited for me. A short burst of joy filled me before it was replaced with the memory of the debt the money will be used to counter.

My legs were shaking the whole evening after i helped a colleague repair a light. It had to be done fast, so he grabbed my belt   and acted as a counterwheight while i leaned over the edge, a ten meter drop below me.
I am scared of heights, but we were the only people available and my knees are in working condition which qualifies one for the climbing outside over steel beams part of the job.

It was nice because after a long time i felt like we worked together and appreciated each others help and company.

„Act self confident when you feel like you aren’t.“ was recommended to me.
I tried that yesterday to cheer up a guy from a production company who is overwhelmed by his current workload. Hope i did not crank it up to eleven because i’m only able to help him to a certain point.

I recently worked at an Elvis themed show for the Nth time, but i’m always looking forward to the Viva Las Vegas part; where the clip from the movie is being projected on a screen while the reenactment happens on stage.
And that clip always makes me laugh, and i’m probably thinking this because i’m jealous of the King, but it looks like his bladder is filled over capacity or he’s doing his best to power through a stroke.

Anyway, VIVA LAS VEGAS!

In my job we often joke about certain light designers and their design quirks.
But then you watch the show and while you can spot the elements we laughed about, we have to admit that they work beautifully with a little tweak to fit the current performance.
Also, i should get a thinner skin towards the shows i’m working on/at. Those people are living legends for some, and their work might have helped them in some way.
On the flipside, we’re all human, and even the ones on the stage are flawed.
